Thursday, 3/5/09, 4:13 PM I am proud to have known Kelly & to have worked with him during his summer in Angel Fire. But I am more proud to call him a friend, and a real part of our family. My folks met him when he was a "young cowboy/artist" in Taos, and have been collecting his work ever since. We commissioned him for a huge sandstone to commemorate my dad's retirement a few years ago. Kelly "threw in" his paint-covered easel, as a personal gift! (My favorite of SO MANY great stories...) We love you Kelly, David, Mona, Rebecca and David Mark Huston

Thursday, 9/18/08, 11:54 AM message for the author: when I was five or maybe six years old I met you at your studio somewhere.... was it New York? Or Santa Fe.... I'm not sure.... you drew me a cowboy which inspired me to attempt to draw for many years into my childhood. My Dad was named Robert Gallaher and my mom's name is Bettie. My dad passed in '91 but my mom is going strong. Recently she said, "here" and gave me the two paintings they bought from you... one is of a miner looking over the Grand Canyon and the other is of an Indian boy dressed in full regalia dancing in some type of ceremony. The miner painting is dated 1966 ... the other one is in the other room. I love them both and treasure them. I have a book of yours, too. -Scott Gallaher

Sunday, 2/24/08, 3:05 PM Kelly I do hope to hear from you, long time not knowing how you are doing. You were always one of my favorite people, so very talented -- you passed some of your vast talents onto my kids -- they have very strong artistic abilities -- and the artistic side of them sure didn't come from me! Christopher is an actor -- he works in New York as a Shakespeare actor in summer and WaltDisney World in winter, I didn't raise any dumb kids, that's for sure. Sheri is a computer graphic designer working with Ethan Allen and Loni is a Cardiac Intensive Care Nurse as well as a deaf interpreter. Pretty neat huh?

Saturday, 1/26/08, 4:10 PM Today I just learned about you and your touching art work. It's great, you paint your life story. I wish someone had told me this 40 years ago. In my fist art class, at the end of the semester my instructor indicated that I should seeks other interest in making a living. I took his advise...I thought he knew what he was talking about. Four years ago after retiring from the teaching profession I took up acrylic paiting. Now, I just can't quit painting. I'M learning. Now, since discovering your work, I'm going to spend a lot of time studying your paintings. What a story you have Mr. Kelly! I just read your biography on the local TRICITIES.COM site. I wish you the best...and keep painting your masterpieces of the Old West. Those are the stories I grew up with, The Lone Range, Roy Rogers and all those other great western stories. You are living the life a lot of us just have to dream about. Thats your life, a guess no one else can live the same. Robert Whittenburg From: Mohawk, Tennessee
